To avoid any difficulties in forwarding mail from cPanel to Gmail, we recommend that you configure the Gmail account to access the cPanel e-mail account directly.
For example:
- The e-mail account user@example.com is configured to forward messages to the Gmail account user@gmail.com.
- A user logs in to the Gmail account user@gmail.com and sends a message to user@example.com.
- The message never arrives back at the Gmail account user@gmail.com.
This behavior prevents possible e-mail loops.
An alternative configuration is to instead access messages in the other account using your Gmail inbox.
To set up this configuration, follow the steps:
- Disable any e-mail forwarders you have set up that forwards messages from your cpanel to the Gmail account.
- Log in to the Gmail account.
- Click the Gmail settings icon (
), and then click Settings.
- Click Accounts and Import.
- In the Check mail from other accounts row, click Add a POP3 mail account you own.
- In the Email address text box, type the e-mail address that you want to access from Gmail, and then click Next Step.
- In the Username text box, type the full e-mail address of your cpanel account (for example, user@example.com).
